Selected medical specialists about moving.

Dr. Martin Marianowicz, Private Clinic Jägerwinkel

How did you first hear about moving?
I discovered moving through Reha Klinik Jägerwinkel, and I believe it’s a brilliant concept. It’s practical for everyone and can easily be done independently in the morning. I am convinced that this is the right approach to help our stressed society achieve better back health.

What are the main spinal issues?
There are three main issues: first, the intervertebral discs don’t get enough nutrition; second, muscles atrophy when kept inactive for long periods; and third, prolonged sitting, or forced postures, can lead to joint blockages.

How can moving help with these problems?
Regular, even gentle movement nourishes the intervertebral discs, keeps them healthy, prevents muscle atrophy, and avoids joint blockages. moving helps reduce stress on the spine, slows wear and tear, and can prevent long-term spinal osteoarthritis.

“Regular, even gentle, movement nourishes the intervertebral discs, keeps them healthy, and prevents muscle atrophy and spinal joint blockages.

Dr. med. Petra Blum, Natural healing methods

How does moving benefit the back muscles and intervertebral discs?

Long periods of sitting gradually compress the intervertebral discs, reducing their nutrition, while muscles – particularly in the shoulders and neck – become tense. Gentle movements with moving reactivate the entire muscular system, relieve the discs, and improve their nutrition, allowing them to fully rehydrate and expand.

Which parts of the back are especially activated by moving?

The ligament system is quite rigid and loses elasticity if not gently mobilized regularly. The small spinal muscles, crucial for coordination, also need frequent stretching and relaxation impulses to remain healthy. Beyond supporting intervertebral disc nutrition, moving is especially effective for fine muscles and ligaments, as its gentle, light movements activate areas of the back that conventional physical therapy often barely engages.

Why would you recommend moving?

Nowadays, many people sit for far too long, contributing to a rise in back problems. moving offers an easy and practical way to relieve the spine throughout the day and take personal action to stay fit and flexible.

Dr. Veronika Wissert, occupational physician at a leading electronics company

Do you implement moving in your company?

At our Munich location, we began implementing moving, starting with a study at the University of Erlangen. Once moving was introduced, the enthusiasm of our mostly young employees was immediately evident. It was great to see the exercises being done consistently. The study results clearly demonstrated that moving helped reduce the impact of back pain.

Dr. Wissert, what makes moving unique?

What makes moving special is that it provides a simple way to stay active throughout the day. People using moving become more conscious of how easy it is to take care of their health and start thinking about ways to include movement in their leisure activities.
